Baked bean spillage delays football match

The Blue Square Premier match between Barrow and Ebbsfleet is delayed by nearly 90 minutes after a baked bean spillage on the motorway.

A baked bean spillage on the M6 caused the Blue Square Premier match between Barrow and Ebbsfleet to be delayed until 9.10pm on Wednesday night.

Ebbsfleet were halted on their 300-mile trip to Cumbria for a crucial relegation clash with Barrow when they encountered a lorry that had shed its load of baked beans near St Helens.

After finally negotiating themselves past the incident, the match finally got underway almost 90 minutes after the scheduled kickoff time.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw, with the full-time whistle being blown just after 11pm.
