When asked about the British and Irish Lions by a Spanish newspaper, Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas claims that they are an Irish pop band.

Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has reportedly mistaken the British and Irish Lions for an Irish pop band.

The 26-year-old, who is currently on duty for the Spanish national team at the Confederations Cup in Brazil, was asked a series of questions in an interview with newspaper El Pais.

When asked what are the British and Irish Lions, Fabregas said: "A pop band from Belfast."

The rugby team are preparing for tomorrow's first Test against Australia.
