Ricky Ponting to join Sky Sports' Ashes coverage

Australian cricket legend Ricky Ponting signs up to Sky Sports' punditry team for this summer's Ashes coverage.

Sky Sports has confirmed that Ricky Ponting will be part of the broadcaster's team for this summer's Ashes coverage.

The 40-year-old Australian will provide insight and analysis during the highly-anticipated showdown between England and Australia on UK shores.

Ponting will deliver his views alongside regular pundits Sir Ian Botham, Nasser Hussain, David Gower, Michael Atherton, Ian Ward, Michael Holding, David Lloyd and Shane Warne.

"I can't wait to team up with Sky Sports for The Ashes in England this summer," said Ponting. "It's still the greatest event in cricket and I hope to give all the Sky viewers the latest insights as well as having some fun with Nasser, Bumble and the team."

From July 1, Sky Sports 2 will be rebranded as Sky Sports Ashes for two months as England try to win back the famous urn following a heavy 5-0 defeat to the Aussies last winter.
