Arsenal striker Theo Walcott gains 39,000 Twitter followers 45 minutes after sending his first tweet.

Arsenal striker Theo Walcott has joined social media network Twitter this evening.

The 25-year-old, who is currently recovering from a knee ligament tear, posted his first message on the website earlier.

He first tweet read:


Within 45 minutes of sending the tweet, Walcott had attracted over 39,000 followers.
