Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski has been getting used to life in London by attempting to learn cockney slang.

The Germany international signed for the Gunners in the summer from FC Koln and has enjoyed a fine start to his career at the Emirates Stadium.

The 27-year-old has undergone a crash course in getting accustomed to the capital lifestyle with the forward featuring in a video on Arsenal Player in which club legend Ray Parlour attempts to help him pick up the lingo.

In the video, Podolski can be seen learning common phrases such as "apples and pears" for stairs, "trouble and strife" for wife, "dog and bone" for phone and "rub-a-dub" for pub.

When asked to compose a sentence, Podolski responded: "I hit the Albert Hall into the beans on toast.

"I was at the Fatboy Slim with my trouble and strife. Now I'm going to the rub-a-dub for some Britney Spears."

Podolski has scored four goals in all competitions for Arsenal so far this season.
