Nicklas Bendtner defends 'criminal damage' after arrest

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner insists that his arrest for criminal damage was not a serious incident and that the "matter is closed".

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has insisted that his arrest for suspected criminal damage was not a serious incident.

The 25-year-old has been cautioned by police after questioning on Monday following an incident at his apartment block in Hertfordshire.

Reports have claimed that the Dane kicked in the door to the building's gym and smashed a window, but the Arsenal outcast has claimed that he and his friends "caused some damage" trying to open the door to the gym as they believed it was stuck.

A statement from Hertfordshire Police said: "A 25-year-old man from Bushey has been cautioned for criminal damage and is no longer in custody.

"He was arrested in connection with an incident which occurred at an address in The Avenue, Bushey, in the early hours of November 24."

Bendtner has also apologised to his neighbours and has insisted that the "matter is closed".
