Yamaha motorcycle racer Valentino Rossi taken to hospital after Aragon GP crash

Yamaha racer Valentino Rossi is taken to hospital with concussion after crashing during the Aragon Grand Prix at the weekend.

Seven-time premier class world champion Valentino Rossi was taken to hospital with concussion on Sunday after crashing in the Aragon Grand Prix.

The Italian motorcycle racer was thrown from his bike on the Motorland track after running wide onto the grass in the wet conditions.

Despite the crash, Yamaha team doctor Michele Zasa has confirmed that there is no "special reasons for concern" with regards to Rossi's health.

In a statement, Zasa said: "Valentino suffered a concussion with a suspected loss of consciousness. From a neurological point of view he has recovered very well.

"He was taken to hospital in Alcaniz to make a further check, in particular a CT scan of the skull that has ruled out any bleeding in the brain. As a precaution he will be observed in the coming hours, but there are no special reasons for concern."

The race was won by the 35-year-old's teammate Jorge Lorenzo.
