Switzerland stage comeback against Sweden to take bronze medal

Switzerland's women's ice hockey team come from 2-0 down to beat Sweden 4-3 in the bronze medal contest.

Switzerland have taken the bronze medal in the women's ice hockey event, coming from behind to beat Sweden 4-3 at the Bolshoy Ice Dome.

Michelle Lowenhielm opened the scoring for Sweden, finishing off a pass from Cecilia Osterberg to get her side up and running in the third-place playoff.

Goaltender Florence Schelling pulled off a number of saves early in the second period to keep Switzerland in the contest, before Erica Uden Johansson eventually added a second for her side.

Sara Benz pulled one back for the Swiss to start the comeback charge, with Phoebe Stanz levelling the contest following a scramble in front of goal.

The comeback was complete when Jessica Lutz found the net, and Alina Muller soon added a fourth.

There was still time for Pernilla Winberg to pull the Swedish women's side right back into the contest, but Switzerland held out to take their first ever medal in this event.
