Sean Avery arrested in Los Angeles

New York Rangers winger Sean Avery is bailed after suspected battery of a police officer.

New York Rangers winger Sean Avery has been bailed following his arrest for suspected battery of a police officer last week.

The Canadian agitator, 31, allegedly shoved a police officer who was responding to a neighbour’s noise complaint at his Hollywood home.

He posted $20,000 bail seven hours after his arrest.

Avery was suspended for six games in 2008 following crude remarks about an ex-girlfriend made during a pre-game interview.

He was also the reason for the NHL’s so called ‘Avery rule’, when the league dubbed his distraction of New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Brodeur by waving his arms and stick in front of his face during a power play as grounds for unsportsmanlike conduct.

“I'm all right, I'm good," Avery told the New York Post. “It'll all work out at some point.”
