Dan Purvis, Amy Tinkler secure senior titles at British Championships

Gymnasts Dan Purvis and Amy Tinkler secure the men's and women's senior titles at the British Championships.

Gymnasts Dan Purvis and Amy Tinkler ended the British Championships in Liverpool on Sunday with senior titles.

Purvis secured number one spot with 88.500 points, ahead of second-placed Frank Baines and joint third-placed Sam Oldham and James Hall.

"I'm over the moon," Sky Sports News quotes Purvis as saying. "The last few years have been a battle, with Max Whitlock being second best in the world. To get the title back this year has been fantastic, and in a home arena as well."

On the women's side, Tinkler grabbed a score of 56.650 to claim top spot on the podium, while Claudia Fragapane came second and Elissa Downie sealed third.

"I didn't expect it at all," Tinkler added. "I'm still in shock. I was just hoping to have a clean competition and get in the top 10. To win is amazing."

Louis Smith snatched the pommel horse title off Whitlock, who claimed third, while Oldham nabbed second place.
