Hunter Mahan, Jim Furyk: 'Start key to victory'

Hunter Mahan and Jim Furyk praise the start that they made in their fourball clash with Lee Westwood and Jamie Donaldson.

Hunter Mahan and Jim Furyk believe that "a good start" was a major contributing factor to their 4&3 fourball victory over Lee Westwood and Jamie Donaldson earlier today.

The American duo were both involved in losses during yesterday's fourballs, but recovered this morning to overcome their European counterparts, thanks in part to four birdies in the first seven holes.

Reflecting on their performance, Furyk told Sky Sports News: "I felt Matt [Kuchar] and I played really well yesterday, but to lose our match on 18 was disappointing. It was nice to come out this morning and get off to a good start."

Meanwhile, Mahan added: "We had to try to get off to a good start and we did. We kept the pressure on them all day."

The victory reduced the arrears, with Europe now leading 6-5 overall.
