Tiger Woods says that bad weather has become a theme of this year's Tour following a rain-affected first day at the US Open.

Tiger Woods has remained upbeat despite finishing the first day of the US Open on two-over-par through 10 holes at Merion Golf Club.

Two weather breaks meant that many of the field did not get to finish their first round, meaning that they will return tomorrow morning to complete it.

The world number one said that he has enough holes left to turn it around, which could put him in a good position heading into the second round.

"It's kind of the way the Tour has been this year," Woods told reporters. "We've had a lot of bad weather this year and this is the way it's been.

"I've got a lot of holes to play tomorrow, and hopefully I can play a little better than I did today."

Luke Donald leads the championship on four-under-par with five holes left to play.
