Retief Goosen and Vijay Singh claimed a share of the lead on the opening day of the Northern Trust Open at the Rivera Country Club.
The two veterans were joined at the top of the leaderboard by Nick Watney, James Hahn, Daniel Summerhays and Derek Fathauer, who all finished on five-under-par.
Singh recorded his lowest round on the PGA Tour since 2012 thanks largely to four birdies on the back nine, while Goosen, whose last victory came almost six years ago, recovered from two bogeys after the turn to card a 66 of his own.
Carlos Ortiz is a shot behind the leaders, while Justin Thomas and Geoff Ogilvy started with respective rounds of 68.
Jordan Spieth finished day one on three-under, but defending Bubba Watson was forced to settle for a round of 70 in California.
