John Daly one stroke behind JB Holmes, Justin Hicks at Pebble Beach

Two-time Major winner John Daly trails JB Holmes and Justin Hicks by one stroke after the first round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

JB Holmes and Justin Hicks claimed a share of a one-shot lead on a day which saw John Daly roll back the years in the opening round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Holmes and Hicks were in fine form in California as they each carded rounds of 64, but the day belonged to two-time Major winner Daly, who finished the first day just one stroke behind the leaders.

Daly, who has not won on the PGA Tour since 2004, recorded seven birdies in a bogey-free round as the 48-year-old put himself in contention for a surprise victory after 18 holes.

Six other players, including Jim Furyk and Brandt Snedeker, joined Daly on seven-under, while Nick Watney is among a group of challengers a shot further back.
