Lee Westwood has hailed Nicolas Colsaerts's performance in Friday's fourballs as "one of those amazing days" as he and the Belgian secured a point for Europe.
Colsaerts produced a miraculous display of 10-under-par on his debut performance in the Ryder Cup and Westwood has admitted that it was "vital" that Europe secured a point after leading for the majority of their match with Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker.
Westwood said: "I didn't play my best but Nicolas Colsaerts was brilliant to watch. I tried to support him whenever I could but it was one of those amazing days.
"We didn't just want the half, it was vital we got the win and the full point."
Westwood will team with Luke Donald in Saturday morning's foursomes while Colsaerts will partner Sergio Garcia as Europe look to overcome a 5-3 deficit.
