Illinois congressman Peter Roskam has faild in his attempt to ban Irish bookmaker Paddy Power from skywriting over Medinah Country Club.
The Republican Party member threatened legal action against the betting company, who wrote a message in the sky reading: "Do it for Seve #GoEurope."
Other messages reportedly read: "God wants Europe to win" and "Anyone seen Tiger?"
It is part of an initiative to support the European team as they play on American soil by relaying positive messages posted on Twitter.
Roskam reportedly claimed that the pilots flying the planes that delivered the 'sky tweet' could be arrested should they attempt to take off to write more messages.
However, Paddy Power have now been given the green light to continue their campaign before today's singles matches.
A spokesman for the company said: "The congressman seems be to suffering from an incredible sense of humour failure. Maybe he got a knock on the head from one of Tiger's wayward golf balls yesterday!"
Paddy Power were inundated with 2,000 supportive tweets and the best ones were selected to be etched in the Chicago sky.
Davis Love III reacted jokingly, stating that his team were buoyed by the messages being written.
"Hey, it's working good for us," he said. "We keep winning holes. I'm just disappointed that they stopped, because if they'd have kept doing it all afternoon, maybe our roll would have kept going."
USA lead 10-6 heading into today's singles matches.
