Graeme McDowell, Louis Oosthuizen book quarter-final spots

Graeme McDowell is forced to stage a comeback for the third successive round to reach the quarter-finals of the WGC World Match Play Championship.

Graeme McDowell was forced to come from behind for the third game in a row to book a spot in the quarter-finals of the WGC World Match Play Championship.

The former US Open champion, who faced major troubles in the opening two rounds, won the final two holes to take Hunter Mahan into an extended game before sealing a dramatic victory with a birdie on the 21st.

McDowell will play Victor Dubuisson in the final eight after the Frenchman held off a late charge from Bubba Watson to secure a win on the final hole of regulation play.

Louis Oosthuizen continued his impressive form with a 5&4 victory over Webb Simpson to set up a match against Jason Day after the Australian beat George Coetzee 3&1.

Harris English's campaign came to an end at the hands of fellow American Jim Furyk, who came from three behind to progress into the quarter-finals.

Rickie Fowler ensured that he would be Furyk's opponent by edging past Sergio Garcia with a birdie on the final hole at Dove Mountain.

Ernie Els needed all 18 holes to knock out Jason Dufner and his reward is a last-eight clash with Jordan Spieth, who beat Matt Kuchar 2&1.
