Tiger Woods has vowed to recapture his best golf after showing signs of progress at the Quicken Loans National this week.
The 14-time Major winner followed up his opening-round 68 with a 66 on Friday for what was his lowest 36-hole total in two years.
At eight-under-par, Woods is three strokes adrift of leader Ryo Ishikawa, but the legendary figure - now ranked 266th in the world - says that he is turning a corner.
"I feel like I can still compete and win," the 39-year-old is quoted as saying by PGATour.com.
"A year-and-a-half ago, I won five times. I think that's a pretty good number. It's not that long ago that I was Player of the Year. Eventually I'll climb back."
Woods has not won on Tour since a Bridgestone Invitational victory in August 2013.
