Camilo Villegas relieved to end barren spell after Wyndham Championship triumph

Camilo Villegas says that he is relieved to have ended a three-and-a-half year barren spell on the PGA tour by winning the Wyndham Championship.

Camilo Villegas has expressed his relief after ending a three-and-a-half year drought by winning the Wyndham Championship on Sunday.

Villegas carded a final-round 63 to pip Bill Haas and Fredrik Jacobson, who finished one stroke back on 16 under par.

The victory represents the Colombian's fourth PGA title and first since 2010, and the 32-year-old admits that doubts began to creep in during the barren period.

"It worked out my way. I played great on the first day. I played well today. I felt confident on the course. There were nerves, but that's part of the game," he told CBS.

"It's been three-and-a-half years without a win. I always work hard. I always grind. I love the game, but it starts getting to you. I feel a little lighter, I feel great."

Overnight leader Nick Watney finished three shots off the pace after failing to build on his five-under par round on Saturday.
