Tiger Woods is back in the top four of golf's world rankings and he could become number one again if he has a successful month ahead of the Open.

Tiger Woods has the opportunity to be back on top of the world rankings by next month if he builds on his recent success.

The 14-time major winner won the Memorial tournament yesterday after an impressive final round that included a chip-in on 16 and a birdie at the last in Ohio.

Woods equalled Jack Nicklaus's total of 73 wins on tour and the Golden Bear described Woods's chip-in as the "most unbelievable, gutsy shot I've ever seen."

If Woods, 36, can triumph at this week's US Open at the Olympic club then he could trouble the British trio of Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood at the top of the world rankings ahead of the Open at Royal Lytham.
