Russia's Andrey Pavlov made a 12-over-par start to his second round at the Lyoness Open in Austria by taking 17 shots on the opening hole this morning.
The 28-year-old shot a one-under round of 71 yesterday to sit just six shots off the lead, but immediately plummeted down the leaderboard today with a nightmare start.
He hit six balls in the water at the 506-yard par-five before finally putting in to tie the joint-second worst number of strokes on a single hole in European Tour history.
Pavlov, who has never made the cut in 14 previous attempts on both the European and Challenge Tours, also struggled at the Diamond Country Club last year by finishing 26-over.
At the other end of the leaderboard, Gregory Bourdy extended his advantage with a five-under 67 to leave him five shots clear of the field on 12-under.
