Louis Oosthuizen recovers from last weekend's play-off defeat in the Masters by winning the Malaysia Open in Kuala Lumpur.

Louis Oosthuizen recovered in the best possible manner from losing out in last weekend's Masters by winning the Malaysia Open this morning.

The South African lost out to Bubba Watson in a playoff at Augusta a week ago but stormed to a three-shot victory in the weather-interrupted Kuala Lumpur event.

Oosthuizen finished three shots clear of Scotland's Stephen Gallagher on 17-under-par after completing his third round (69) in the morning before shooting a four-under round of 68.

Third place was shared by Rafael Cabrera-Bello, Danny Willett and David Lipsky, who were five behind Oosthuizen.

The 29-year-old admitted that he was surprised by the victory because of the long flight from the Masters and has now set his sights on the next Major championship.

He said: "I thought I was going to be a lot more tired," he said. "I played well. I had a good week last week and I am looking forward to the US Open."

Victory for Oosthuizen was his second triumph on the European Tour this season following his success at the Africa Open earlier this year.
