Jason Day fell just short of only the 12th score of 59 in PGA Tour history when the first round of the BMW Championship resumed this morning at Conway Farms.
After the Australian hit his drive on his final hole of the day yesterday play was abandoned due to bad weather in Illinois, meaning that Day had to finish his round this morning.
The US PGA champion was already 10-under-par for his round and had he holed his 44-yard second shot at the par-four ninth he would have managed 59.

It was not to be, though, and he could only make par to post 61, which leads the way by four shots.
Day has a healthy lead in the FedEx Cup rankings going into this week's third of four playoff tournaments thanks to his win at The Barclays and 12th-place finish at the Deutsche Bank Championship.
However, if players are in the top five going into the final Tour Championship at East Lake next week then victory sees them crowned FedEx Cup champion, so Day could still miss out on the big-money payout if one of his main rivals wins the final tournament.
