Tony Jacklin tips Lee Westwood to win his first major tournament at Royal Lytham & St Annes this week.

Tony Jacklin has predicted that Lee Westwood will win the British Open this week if he approaches the tournament in a relaxed mood.

Westwood is still searching for his first major victory but Jacklin believes that the English golfer has the consistency needed to lift the Claret Jug at Royal Lytham & St Annes.

The former Ryder Cup captain told BBC Sport: "Maybe there is an element in those final few holes of Lee trying too hard, rather than just letting it happen.

"Day in day out, when it comes to controlling the golf ball he does it better than anybody in the world and has done it for a year or two.

"Lee is probably the best player never to have won a major, which is not a reputation you want, and he's very aware of that. It must be frustrating for him."

Jacklin won the Open Championship in 1969, when the tournament was last held at Royal Lytham & St Annes.
