David Howell has dedicated his victory at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship to those who supported him during his seven-year barren spell.
The 38-year-old won his first title since the 2006 BMW Championship by beating America's Peter Uihlein in a playoff, and described winning at St Andrews - the 'Home of Golf - an "amazing" feeling.
"It's incredible," Howell told reporters. "I have never played in an Open Championship here but to win a golf tournament as a professional at the Home of Golf is quite amazing and I am really thrilled.
"It's been a long, long road from the depths of despair. I have had a lot of support from people around me and this is as much for them as it is for me."
The title was Howell's fifth on the European Tour.
