Defending champion Adam Scott has declared himself pleased with the start he made to The Masters on Thursday.
The Australian began the defence of his title with a round of three-under-par to end the day one shot behind leader Bill Haas, and he is confident of making progress after dropping shots on just one hole at Augusta.
"I played really well today from tee to green," Scott, who carded a double bogey after finding water on the 12th hole, told members of the media. "I just hit one bad shot on the 12th but I played really lovely.
"I left a couple out there with three putts on the back but that happens when you are putting from range out here. I'm pleased with my start, though and it is something to build on for sure."
Scott was one of only four players to shoot under 70 on the opening day.
