Justin Rose has claimed that he benefited from playing alongside defending champion Bubba Watson as he made an impressive start to The Masters.
The world number 11 is currently in a tie for second place thanks to a five-under-par 67, and he believes that sharing the limelight with Watson brought out the best in him at Augusta National.
"The secret of my success today was feeling good about my game and also getting a good pairing," Rose told Sky Sports News"I felt a good energy out there playing with the defending champion Bubba and US amateur champion Gunn Yang too.
"I haven't been in contention this year but the draw got the juices flowing, and I felt I was already in the tournament right from the first hole."
Rose, who has never missed the cut at Augusta, is looking for his first top-10 finish of the season.
