Jordan Spieth delighted with "dream round" at Augusta

Jordan Spieth admits that it was a "dream round" for him as he claimed a three-shot lead on the first day of The Masters.

Jordan Spieth has admitted that it was a "dream round" for him as he took control on the opening day at The Masters.

The 21-year-old, who finished in a tie for second behind winner Bubba Watson a year ago, stole the show at Augusta on Thursday with an impressive 64, and he could not hide his delight when reflecting on the form he showed over the first 18 holes.

"I was excited about the way I struck the ball," Spieth told reporters. "I'm excited about the start.

"To make nine birdies out here, that's a dream round for me. It was a lot of fun.

"I played well last year, but I never broke 70."

Spieth finished the day three shots ahead of Charley Hoffman, Justin Rose, Jason Day and Ernie Els.
