Just Rose says that a back injury ruined his chances of winning the Masters.

World number three Justin Rose has insisted that his pursuit of glory at the Masters was hampered by a back injury.

The 32-year-old finished tied for 25th after scoring two-over par following a closing 74.

However, Rose feels that his tournament could have finished a lot stronger had it not been for his injury problems.

"Most of Saturday my back was OK and then I hurt it with my second shot into 17," Rose told Sky Sports News.

"It was painful overnight and then it eased up. I hit the ball so well this week but struggled to convert with the putter and I made a couple of mental errors on the back nine and, classic Augusta, that was born out of trying to push too hard."

Rose's best result at the Masters came in 2007 when he tied for fifth.
