Jamie Donaldson, Lee Westwood extend European lead

Jamie Donaldson and Lee Westwood beat Matt Kuchar and Zach Johnson 2&1 to extend Europe's lead at the Ryder Cup to two points.

Jamie Donaldson and Lee Westwood have recorded their second foursome victory of the 2014 Ryder Cup courtesy of a 2&1 win over Matt Kuchar and Zach Johnson.

Kuchar and Johnson got off to the perfect start with a chip in on the first but the opening five holes went back and forth as neither team could find too much consistency.

Europe took the lead after seven, but an excellent conversion by Kuchar on the eighth green got his team back on level terms just before the turn.

Donaldson drained a putt from six feet to give Europe a slender advantage at the turn, and that lead was doubled at the 10th.

Both teams had chances to win on the following three holes but neither could find the target before an eagle on the short 14th from USA halved the deficit going into the final four holes.

However, Europe struck back on the 16th with Westwood finding the cup to assure his team of a half, and victory was confirmed on the penultimate hole to take Europe into a two-point lead.
