Ian Poulter has congratulated Darren Clarke following the Irishman's appointment as Europe's 2016 Ryder Cup captain.
The 46-year-old was chosen to skipper the team in Hazeltine by a five-man panel on Wednesday.
Clarke saw off competition from Miguel Angel Jimenez and Thomas Bjorn to land the esteemed role.
Poulter, who has played in five Ryder Cups for Europe, believes that Clarke will be a successful captain when the team defends its title next year.
Congratulations to @DarrenClarke60 being appointed as 2016 @RyderCupEurope Captain. That's great news and will be a first class captain.
