Tony Jacklin has praised the decision to give Darren Clarke the Ryder Cup captaincy ahead of the 2016 event in Hazeltine.
Every member of a five-man selection panel selected Clarke to lead Europe ahead of candidates including Miguel Angel Jimenez and Thomas Bjorn, and Jacklin believes that the Northern Irishman is the right man to lead the bid for a fourth successive victory.
"I think it's the right decision and he's clearly the right man for the job in the circumstances," the 70-year-old, who claimed two wins and a tie from four Ryder Cups as captain, told Sky Sports News. "Miguel Jimenez is enjoying the autumn of his career still playing some good golf.
"Darren's got all the experience as a player and as a vice-captain and I think he's an obvious choice and will do very well.
"He's been on two or three winning teams. He knows how it all operates from the inside."
Neither team have claimed four wins in a row since Europe replaced Great Britain and Ireland in the event in 1979.
