Luke Donald will compete in The Open next week at Royal Troon after Jaco van Zyl was forced to withdraw due to injury.
The 38-year-old former world number one, who has not won a tournament since 2013, was first on the reserve list.
Donald, who has never won a Major title, has competed in every Open since 2005 and following Van Zyl's withdrawal, he will play in his 14th.
Four qualifying spots remain up for grabs and could be taken at this week's Scottish Open at Castle Stuart.
