Nick Faldo to play last Open at St Andrew's

Three-time champion Sir Nick Faldo reveals that he will take part in his final Open Championship later this year.

Six-time Major winner Sir Nick Faldo has confirmed that his participation in The Open later this year will be his last in golf's oldest Major.

The 57-year-old won the tournament on three occasions during his career, including once at St Andrew's 25 years ago.

"The Open and St Andrews will forever hold a significant place in my heart," PA quotes him as saying.

"My fondest moments on my journey with this great sport are woven with pictures and emotions in this setting. It all means a huge amount to me."

Faldo's other successes in The Open came either side of his success on the Old Course in 1987 and 1992 at Muirfield.

Five-time Open champion Tom Watson will also be making his final bow in the tournament this year, which takes place from July 16-19.
