Phil Mickelson has described Davis Love III as the "perfect fit" to captain the USA at the 2016 Ryder Cup.
Love, who led America when Europe came from 10-4 down to win at Medinah three years ago, was confirmed as skipper for Hazeltine next year on Tuesday.
Five-time Major champion Mickelson was critical of captain Tom Watson following the USA's defeat at Gleneagles in September and was invited to join the 11-man PGA Tour task force to decide his successor and plot an improvement in Ryder Cup performances after six losses in seven.
He feels that reappointing Love is a popular choice among the players and someone who could lay the foundations for long-term success.
"We are moving forward and we're all working together with interesting and different insights and really working together as a unit and laying the foundation for hopefully a successful run of 10 Ryder Cups, as opposed to just looking at the very next one or the one after that in a very small picture," he told reporters at Love's unveiling.
"Love was a perfect fit for what we wanted in that we have input coming from all different areas and he's a great guy to integrate all that information.
"He's a guy that people love and respect, and he's a guy that already has done a great job and put us in a position to succeed, even though we didn't do it."
Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler and Steve Stricker were among the other current players who contributed to the task force.
