Williams driver Valtteri Bottas expresses his delight at qualifying third for Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix, but admits that it's where one finishes in the race that "counts".

Williams driver Valtteri Bottas has said that he was delighted with his third-place finish in qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, but knows that it's where one finishes at the end of Sunday's race that counts.

The Finn was a surprise third as he handled the changeable conditions in Montreal to go under half a second slower than the two ahead of him - Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes.

He told BBC Sport: "It's nice to be up there but the race is what counts in the end.

"But it is a much better position to start than in some previous races and even in some previous races we have been pretty close to the points, so it should be a great chance to get some points finally.

"It looks like the weather might be tricky again, at first they said it was dry but now it seems there is a chance of some showers. A good start is important and try to gain some positions."

This weekend's race in Montreal is Bottas's just seventh F1 race and he will be looking to score the team's first points of 2013 later today.

You can follow live text updates of the race here on Sports Mole from 6.30pm.
