Formula 1's ruling body, the FIA, have insisted that Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel's drivers' championship victory will stand, despite a complaint made by Ferrari regarding an alleged illegal overtaking during the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Ferrari are believed to have launched a protest against Vettel after video footage showed that the German overtook Toro-Rosso driver Jean-Eric Vergne in a yellow-flag zone, in which does overtaking is not permitted.
Despite the footage, the FIA have stated that a green flag was displayed before the flashing green light, which indicates that Vettel was permitted to overtake his opponent and does not warrant a penalty, according to Autosport.
Vettel, who finished three points ahead of Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, became the youngest driver to clinch three consecutive championships.
