Reports are emerging that Audi-owned Sauber is preparing to officially and imminently announce that Nico Hulkenberg has signed a three-year contract commencing in 2025.
Owned entirely by Volkswagen's Audi division, the Swiss Formula 1 team appears ready to give Carlos Sainz more time to deliberate over an extended offer that would also keep him racing until at least 2027.
Roger Benoit, a seasoned F1 reporter for Blick in Switzerland, revealed: "There will be transfer news on Friday."
"Audi-Sauber will announce the arrival of Nico Hulkenberg for the next few years."
Nico Hulkenberg, the 36-year-old German driver, recently addressed the early onset of this season's driver shuffle while in China, noting: "For some it might move quite quickly, for some maybe not."
Additionally, the F1 Commission convened in Geneva and via video link on Thursday to discuss extending the range of points-scoring positions to the top twelve drivers starting from 2025.
The session concluded that more detailed examination of the proposed adjustments was necessary, aiming for a new proposal to be brought before the F1 Commission in July, as disclosed by a joint announcement from Formula 1 and the governing body FIA.
