Lewis Hamilton fastest in first practice

Championship leader Lewis Hamilton tops the standings in the first practice session ahead of Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix.

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has recorded the fastest time in the opening practice session ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix.

Hamilton finished almost half a second clear of teammate and title rival Nico Rosberg as Mercedes dominated in Montreal.

Romain Grosjean was third in the Lotus, while Nico Hulkenberg and Sebastian Vettel were close behind in the Force India and Ferrari respectively.

Fernando Alonso finished ninth in the McLaren, but teammate Jenson Button finished six places further adrift in 15th position.
