Lewis Hamilton claims pole position for tomorrow's first European grand prix of the season in Barcelona.

Lewis Hamilton will start tomorrow's grand prix in Barcelona on pole position.

The McLaren driver recorded a time that was 0.578 seconds quicker then Pastor Maldonado during the final session to claim first spot on the grid.

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso rounded off the top three, while world champion Sebastian Vettel could only manage eighth.

Hamilton's teammate and compatriot Jenson Button ended the session in 11th, one place ahead of Red Bull's Mark Webber.
