Sergio Perez confirms McLaren exit

Sergio Perez confirms that he will leave McLaren at the end of the season.

Sergio Perez has confirmed that he will leave McLaren at the end of the season.

The 23-year-old Mexican joined the team from Sauber before the start of the current campaign, but a string of poor performances have seen his contract come to an end.

Perez's best finish this season came at the Indian Grand Prix where he was able to end the race in fifth place.

"It has been an honour for me to have been in one of the most competitive teams in the sport and I do not regret even a bit having joined them," he wrote in an open letter on Twitter.

Danish novice Kevin Magnussen is expected to join McLaren as Jenson Button's teammate for next year.
