Felipe Massa crashes his Ferrari at the Sainte Devote corner during third and final practice for the Monaco Grand Prix, causing the session to be red-flagged.

Felipe Massa's Ferrari smacked into the barriers at the Sainte Devote corner during third and final practice for the Monaco Grand Prix this morning.

The Brazilian, apparently unhurt, hopped out of the car swiftly but the session was red-flagged with a little over 20 minutes remaining.

He appeared to lock up his front tyres and lose control of the car before impacting with the barrier at the first corner on the streets of Monte Carlo.

Reigning three-time world champion Sebastian Vettel had set the early pace ahead of the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton before the Massa crash.
