Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has revealed that he is not expecting to pick up a win in many of his opening races this season.
The Spaniard enjoyed a successful early start to the campaign last year, but was pipped to the championship by Sebastian Vettel in the final race of the calendar.
Alonso finished second in the season opener in the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday, but admits that he isn't anticipating finishing better than that in his next handful of races.
"It will be a surprise to be honest if we win one of the first races," he told Sky Sports News.
"It will be welcome for sure, but we need some strange conditions - maybe like last year in Malaysia, rain or something. But in normal conditions I think the podium is more or less the maximum target we have to ask [for]."
The Malaysian Grand Prix takes place this Sunday in Kuala Lumpur.
