Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa are reportedly preparing to go head to head for the services of Czech Republic striker Michal Krmencik in the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old currently plays his club football with Viktoria Plzen and has been in fine form this season, scoring 18 goals in 25 appearances to date.
Championship leaders Wolves are known to be in the market for reinforcements up front as they look to make certain of Premier League promotion this term, while Villa will also look to strengthen as they continue their ascent up the table.
According to local media reports, the two Midlands sides have already made enquiries for Krmencik, who has been with the Czech side since he was a child and would be available for around £3m.
Dinamo Zagreb have also been monitoring Krmencik and have held "advanced talks" over a transfer, but potential offers from England would likely throw a spanner in the works for the Croatian side.
Wolves, meanwhile, are also said to be pondering an ambitious move for Feyenoord forward Nicolai Jorgensen.
