Wolverhampton Wanderers are allegedly on the verge of missing out on transfer target Pele to Monaco.
The 26-year-old Rio Ave star was said to be close to a move to the Premier League newcomers but, according to Birmingham Live, reports from Portugal suggest that the Ligue 1 club have moved into pole position for his signature.
The Portugal-born Guinea-Bissau international was a stand-out star for his club last season, netting seven times as Rio Ave finished fifth in the league.
Pele began his career with Belenenses and has also turned out for Olhanense, Pacos Ferreira, Feirense and Arsenal Kyiv.
The midfielder would link up with several of his Portuguese compatriots at Monaco, including manager Leonardo Jardim and players Rony Lopes and Joao Moutinho.
