Wolverhampton Wanderers fail with second Leon Clarke bid?

A report suggests that Wolverhampton Wanderers have had a second offer for Coventry City striker Leon Clarke rejected.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly had a second offer rejected by Coventry City for Leon Clarke.

The first bid, believed to be in the region of £300,000, was turned down by the Sky Blues last week.

However, Wolves have now failed with another proposal, which was worth around £500,000, according to the Express & Star.

The report added that Bjorn Sigurdarson, who Wolves would be prepared to see move in the opposite direction, has no intention of linking up with Steven Pressley's side.

Meanwhile, Pressley has confirmed that Clarke is likely to miss tomorrow's match against Leyton Orient with a foot injury and not because he has gone on strike in a bid to force through his departure.

"Leon is a doubt for the game tomorrow. He injured the heel in his foot during the Arsenal game. It is genuine injury and I would expect that to be the case. I have asked him to be professional and I'm sure that's the case. He is a major doubt for tomorrow's game so we have had to look around the squad for options," he told the club's official website.

Clarke handed in a transfer request earlier this month.
