Wolverhampton Wanderers confirm Ben Marshall capture

Wolverhampton Wanderers complete the signing of Ben Marshall from Blackburn Rovers.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have completed the permanent signing of Ben Marshall from Blackburn Rovers.

The 25-year-old had been a top target for former Rovers boss and current Wolves manager Paul Lambert this month, although the deal had been in doubt over Rovers' refusal to back down on their £2m valuation of the player.

Confirming the news tonight, the Midlands side revealed that Marshall has penned a three-and-a-half-year deal at Molineux, with the option of an additional year.

"Ben is a strong Championship player who has shown he can be successful at this level and, in our eyes, also has the ability to play higher," said Kevin Thelwell, Wolves' sporting director. "The fact he is so versatile in being able to play across four different positions makes him a really good addition to the group.

"Ben has got really extensive experience but is still at a good age with great technical ability and the potential to both provide assists and score himself. We are really confident that he is another talented player who is going to improve the group."

Marshall added: "Wolves is a massive club which looks like it is going in the right direction. I remember playing at the training ground when I was younger. I know a couple of the lads here and have seen the other signings they have made and it looks exciting.

"Obviously I have worked under the gaffer as well at Blackburn and we got on well. I enjoyed my time working with him and so getting another opportunity to do that here is something I am really looking forward to. So the move ticked all the boxes and it is something that feels right. It looks like Wolves are going to be strong moving forwards."

Marshall notched up 125 Championship appearances for Rovers during his three-and-a-half seasons at Ewood Park.
