Yann Kermorgant brace hands Bournemouth win

Yann Kermorgant scores twice to give Bournemouth a 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship.

Two goals from Yann Kermorgant have given Bournemouth a 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Dean Court in the Championship this evening.

After early chances for both sides, Kermorgant opened the scoring for the hosts after tapping it in at the near post from a Callum Wilson cross.

Tomasz Kuszczak continued to come under pressure in the Wolves goal, denying the lively Kermorgant a second before coming off his line to gather a Matt Ritchie cross.

Despite creating few chances in the first 40 minutes, Wolves got back on level terms just before half time when Kevin McDonald picked out Benik Afobe with an accurate pass, setting up the striker to rifle the ball into the bottom corner.

Eddie Howe's side did not take long to edge back ahead once the match got back underway though as Wilson was brought down by Richard Stearman, allowing Kermorgant to squeeze the ball under Kuszczak from the penalty spot.

Wilson had a couple of chances to extend Bournemouth's lead shortly after, but he blasted the ball wide from just outside the box before scuffing the ball to the left after Marc Pugh played it back in.

Wilson continued to stretch the Wolverhampton defenders late on, creating space again to get on the end of a through-ball from Kermorgant, but he could not get his finish on target.

Bakary Sako tried to rescue a point for the visitors when he went for goal from a free kick 25 yards out inside the final 10 minutes, but his effort was both high and wide.

Wolves continued to look the more likely in the final moments, with Sako and Rajiv van La Parra both winning free kicks, but the visitors could not capitalise.

The result moves Bournemouth up to fourth in the table, just three points off top spot, while Wolves sit eighth.
