Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly hopeful of striking a cut-price deal with Sporting Lisbon for midfielder Joao Palhinha.
Earlier this month, Sporting president Frederico Varandas denied suggestions that Wolves had reached an agreement in principle to bring Palhinha to Molineux.
Nevertheless, Nuno Espirito Santo's side continue to be strongly linked with a move for the 24-year-old, who has made 18 league appearances this season during his loan spell at Braga.
According to The Mirror, Sporting would be happy to part ways with Palhinha during the summer window, and Wolves may be able to secure the midfielder's services for a relatively cheap figure.
The report claims that Palhinha's current deal at Sporting includes a release clause of £18m, but the Primeira Liga side could be willing to lower their asking price given the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic.
Palhinha's is under contract at Sporting until the summer of 2023.
