Wolverhampton Wanderers 'aiming for sixth place in Premier League'

A report claims that Wolverhampton Wanderers' Chinese owners have set the club a target of finishing sixth in the Premier League.

Newly-promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly set an ambitious target of finishing in sixth place in their first season back in the Premier League.

The Midlands side stormed to the Championship title last term under manager Nuno Espirito Santo, having spent heavily to bring in the likes of Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota and Willy Boly on permanent and loan deals.

Wolves - backed by wealthy Chinese firm Fosun International - have been tipped to make a splash in the transfer market this summer and have been linked with big-money moves for the likes of Andre Silva, Rui Patricio and Goncalo Guedes in recent weeks.

According to a report in The Mirror, Nuno has been promised significant funds to strengthen for the campaign and Fosun have set him a target of finishing "sixth next term".

Wolves last finished as high as sixth in the top flight in the 1979-80 season and are currently priced at odds of 8/1 with the bookmakers to achieve the feat in 2018-19.
